Attorneys Andrew Debbins and Rebecca Izzo challenged the restrictions under the Americans with Disabilities Act and other statutes in a federal lawsuit. The Buffalo City School District had refused to let the disabled young man attend school with a face shield instead of a mask, and the district refused to grant any mask exemptions for in-person learning for students who are unable to wear a mask due to a documented disability. After Connors LLP initiated the federal litigation and challenged the district’s legal position, the district agreed to let the young man return to the classroom, changed its policy, and agreed to a financial settlement to compensate the young man’s family.

Quinlan III put together a case demonstrating that the electrician was killed because workers had been pressured to cut corners and violate safety rules.
